History of the Company

In August 2018, James and Stephanie Murphy noticed a gap in the market for high quality serviced accommodation outside of London. To fill this gap, the couple innovated their business and Opulent Living was formed.

It took James and Stephanie six (6) months to research and prepare for their business and in February 2019, they secured their first property in Sheffield City Centre. Just two months later, in April 2019, they secured their first property in Cambridge.

The business itself continued to evolve, finding a niche in managing properties for investors and landlords, hailing the launch of Opulent Living Management the very next month. Following its rapid growth as a business, in June 2019, Opulent Living secured its first serviced accommodation property in Birmingham, marking it as the third city for Opulent Living properties.

It was not very long after establishing itself in Birmingham, that Opulent Living secured a whole block of 11 apartments in Sheffield and established its first key developer relationship.

In August, Opulent Living secured 26 serviced apartments in a newly built high-rise tower in Manchester

From September 2019 to January 2020, Opulent Living grew its portfolio to one hundred properties and its staff to over 10 members. Opulent Living secured two further key developer partnerships leading to two additional multi-apartment locations in Sheffield by February 2020.

Amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic, Opulent Living, yet again, found itself a niche in the business and thrived by further establishing its company foundations, developing its systems and scaling. Working predominantly within the corporate & contractor travel sector to host some of the UK’s largest workforces such as Northern Power, Amazon & DHL.

The growth trajectory of the company has continued into 2021 with the portfolio reaching 200 apartments with hundreds more in the pipeline and Team of over 65 staff.

We are now established as the UK’s fastest growing & industry leading industry leading short-term accommodation Business. The strength of the business model shows no signs of slowing as Opulent Living launches multi-million pound developments of their own in strategic locations across the UK.
